Frequently Asked Questions

How do you remove old stain, varnish, or paint if I want to refinish my furniture?

Through a process which includes Soda Blasting initially, then sanding to finer grits.

What is Soda blasting?

Abrasive blasting is using pressurized air or water containing a suspended particle that is projected at a surface for the purpose of degreasing or removing burnt on carbon, coatings and other contaminants. ARMEX is a baking soda based (sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO3) media manufactured by the makers of ARM & HAMMER™️ Products for use as an abrasive in cleaning or removing coatings without alteration of the base material.

Where did Soda Blasting originate?

In the mid-1980s, engineers restoring the Statue of Liberty required a method of removing layers of coal tar epoxy from the interior of the statue without damaging its copper plating.
